July 23, 2008 — The Lower Manhattan Development Corporation (LMDC) along with the Hudson River Park Trust were proud to announce the opening of the newest section of park. This section of park in Tribeca was made possible with the allocation of $70 million by the LMDC. With this opening the 550-acre Hudson River Park is approximately 50 percent finished. Read More

June 27, 2008 — The Lower Manhattan Development Corporation (LMDC) announced an agreement to help fund over 1,000 free park events in Lower Manhattan. April 30, 2008 — The Lower Manhattan Development Corporation (LMDC) announced today that another milestone has been reached at 130 Liberty Street and that the final stages of work on the abatement and decontamination have commenced. Since the tragic fire of August 18, 2007, the LMDC has worked closely with federal, state and city agencies to enhance safety conditions for first responders, workers and residents and to make modifications to the plan for abating the building. The steps connected the World Trade Center Plaza to Vesey Street. The structure has been dubbed the "survivors stairway" as it was a means of escape for thousands of people on September 11th. December 4, 2007 — Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg today announced the launch of Notify NYC, a pilot program to deliver emergency public information by email, text messages and reverse-911 alerts in four City community districts. Any interested individual can sign up for Notify NYC through www.nyc.gov and receive information about significant emergency events in four pilot communities: Lower Manhattan, the Northeast Bronx, the Rockaways, and Southwest Staten Island. The different technologies tested during the pilot will be evaluated to determine whether they could be deployed citywide. Read More

October 31, 2007 — The World Trade Center Memorial and Redevelopment Plan Programmatic Agreement, dated April 22, 2004, among the Lower Manhattan Development Corporation (“LMDC”), the Advisory Council on Historic Preservation, and the New York State Historic Preservation Office ("Programmatic Agreement") governs the mitigation of any adverse effects of the World Trade Center Memorial and Redevelopment Plan on historic resources. Pursuant to the Programmatic Agreement, on August 22, 2007, LMDC distributed to the consulting parties to the Programmatic Agreement (“Consulting Parties”) a proposed final mitigation plan (“Proposed Final Mitigation Plan”) to minimize adverse effects on the remaining portions of the former stairway and escalator support at Greenwich and Vesey Streets (“Vesey Street Stair Remnant”) identified on Exhibit F of the Programmatic Agreement.
